Organize templates with tags

Learn how to create and use tags to easily organize all your templates

If you happen to manage hundreds or some dozens of templates in Semplates, things can get confusing. Tags are great for sorting, organizing and filtering your templates. They are also a great tool to collaborate with your colleagues by attaching disclaimers to templates. Let's see how they work.

Creating new template tags

Start by navigating to the Tag Manager. Here you can see all tags created within your team / organization. To create a new tag click on the button in the upper right:

Every Tag needs a label as well as a HEX code, that defines its color. Paste a HEX code or choose une using the Color Picker:

Great! Now you can use that tag to organize your templates. There are thre places from where you can add tags to a template:

  • When creating a new template
  • Within the Template manager
  • Within the Template editor

Adding tags when creating new templates:

Let's start by going to the Template Starters. Click onto the Use Template buttons, that appears, when hovering over a template:

Define the template metadata and click onto the Tags field to add tags. From the dropdown pick the tags, that you want to add to your template:

Press the Create Template button once you finished editing the template data. Your template will be created and the selected tags will be added automatically.

Adding tags from within the Template manager:

Let's start by going to the Template Manager. Click onto the Tags field of any listed template to start editing it's tags:

From the dropdown pick the tags that you want to add to your template. Then press save:

Adding tags from within the Template editor

Start by going to the Template Manager. Let's say you want to modify one of your production templates. Start by copying the existing template:

The template will be duplicated and the editor opens. From here, click on More in the upper right. If you scroll down, you can see the Tags Option, that you can click on:

From the dropdown pick the tags that you want to add to your template. Then press save. Once saved, you will get a success notification and the added tags will be listed.
